National Museums and Archives

The RCHME Record Centre at Kemble Drive, Swindon, Wiltshire SN2 2 GZ maintains the National Monuments Record (NMR), a photographic archive of historic buildings and archaeological sites in England, including aerial photographs of use to historians.

The Civil Registration system for recording births, marriages, and deaths in England and Wales has been in place since 1837 and is one of the most significant single resources for genealogical research back to Victorian times".
